Thanks for the clarification Quack..

Obama is a great orator and is very charismatic,  but aside from that I fail to see the “substance”... he’s just an empty suit in my opinion.

Yes, he’s a U.S. Senator, but he’s only served 143 days in the Senate, the rest of the time he’s been on the campaign trail. He has no executive experience (Governor, Mayor) nor has he run a business.  His credentials are thin, much “thinner”  than Palin’s and just because he’s a “rock star” and is beloved by the celebs, doesn’t mean he is any more qualified than any one of us.

My greatest concern is that as President, he will raise taxes to pay for all his new programs, including “universal” health care which will be the granddaddy of them all!!

I’m also concerned that he will cut our Defense programs, once again leaving us vulnerable.

In times of rapid change, experience could be your worst enemy.

Jean Paul Getty

So experience- is it really necessary?

Hey BJ, call me when you need an appendectomy.  I don’t have any experience but I’m sure you’ll benefit from the “change.”  ;-)

Hey give me a book of illistrations and the proper tools I could probably do it and do it well- its just being able to knock the patient out would have me stamied- I’d have to do it like the old days and get you drunk on whiskey and tie you to the table.

Dont beleive me, ask my kids.

I beleive lots of people (not all) can do things well that they have not been trained for. You must have a deep interest and some brains. In fact the government used to be run by gentlemen that served there duty, went home and then someone else took their place. Not saying it was perfect as it was just the wealthy land owners for the most part, but it was a start- heck Patrick Henry was a silversmith- did that stop him from being a statesman.

Maybe representation of the people- should go back to that- people, real people who feel a calling, serve then out you go.

You cant tell me the folks in office know more than others- they just know the secrets to staying in office and becoming millionares on what is essentially a lower paying job- gee, wonder how they do that- besides divorcing the wife and marrying someone with money.

My interpretation of the quote “In times of rapid change, experience could be your worst enemy” has nothing to do with not having any knowledge of the subject, but being set in your ways that aren’t necessarily the most acclimate.

It’s like, in your appendectomy example, refusing to perform a laparoscopic appendectomy in favor of traditional open surgery, because that’s what you’re accustomed. You have experience in traditional open surgery, you’re comfortable doing it. Your colleagues are widely accepting, performing and recommending laparoscopic procedures over the techniques in which you have all your experience doing… in this case your experience IS your worst enemy. You either adapt and **gulp** (here’s the hated and over-used word of the year) “change” or you become obsolete. But, your experience is still necessary; there are situations where the new procedures won’t work, laparoscopy isn’t an option… in those very few cases, you’re still King.

But more on Obama:Think he wants to end the war in Iraq? He sure talks tough. A 2007 flier from his campaign says, “I opposed this war from the beginning. I opposed the war in 2002. I opposed it in 2003. I opposed it in 2004. I opposed it in 2005. I opposed it in 2006. And I introduced a plan this January to remove all of our combat brigades by March 2008.” It sure sounds convincing, doesn’t it? It sure does if you don’t do your homework! What he hoping you’ll never find out is that according to Wikipedia, “Obama sponsored 152 bills and resolutions brought before the 109th Congress in 2005 and 2006, and cosponsored another 427.” None of these were related to ending the war in Iraq. Additionally, “once Obama got to Washington [in 2005], he made only one Senate speech on Iraq.”. The full analysis has even more examples of his lack of interest in ending the Iraq war. If he is such a great leader, why didn’t he actually do something about it? It’s easy to have opinions and do nothing.

Like Clinton, Obama voted against the Kerry-Feingold Amendment in 2006 that would have set a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. So he brags he introduced a plan in 2007 that would set a timetable for withdrawal. But when he had a chance back in 2006 to vote for such a time table for withdrawal, he voted against it! OK, so why doesn’t he explain why he wasn’t for a timetable then, but is for it now?

A President Obama wouldn’t be much different than President Bush with respect to removing troops from Iraq. CNN reported that Obama announced his plan for reducing troops on September 12, 2007 in Clinton, Iowa. Obama would withdraw troops “at a pace of one or two brigades every month.” So it could take as much as 10 months under Obama’s plan just to reduce the troops to pre-surge levels. That’s not much faster than the rate that President Bush wants to withdraw the troops (reduce to pre-surge levels in 10 months).

Obama endorsed Lieberman in the Connecticut primary. Lieberman has been one of the few pro-Iraq war Democrats.

Like Clinton, when the vote to whether to continue to fund the Iraq war came up, he refused to tell people how he would vote before the vote. Instead of urging his supporters to tell their members of Congress to vote against giving Bush a blank check to fund the war, he instead asked them help organize a walk to support his campaign. Obama’s failure of leadership on this critical issue is a key reason why the Senate failed to stop the Iraq war.

Well, here’s something even more disturbing:

Barack Obama’s campaign is comparing Governor Sarah Palin to Pontius Pilate.

Clearly, Governor Palin mocking Barack Obama for being a community organizer, a job Obama himself could not describe but admitted he was unsuccessful at, has gotten under Obama’s skin.

Today, Congressman Steve Cohen, from the floor of the House of Representatives, compared Barack Obama to Jesus and Sarah Palin to Pontius Pilate, saying “Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus …. Pontius Pilate was a governor.”

The key take away here is that Pontius Pilate, like Barack Obama, thought matters of life were above his pay grade.  Likewise, it could be said Pilate had a history of voting “present” on controversial issues.

It is amazing that the Barack Obama campaign actually has invested in the idea that Barack Obama is just like Jesus, but cooler.  It is even more amazing they would compare Governor Sarah Palin to the Roman governor of Judea.

Prior to comparing her to Pontius Pilate, Barack Obama himself referred to Sarah Palin as a pig.

On Tuesday, Representative Russ Carnahan (D-MO), echoing Governor Palin’s “lipstick” line in her convention speech, said, “There is no way you can dress up that record even with a lot of lipstick.”

On Wednesday, Barack Obama expanded the line referring to Governor Palin as a pig, saying of Governor Palin and John McCain’s candidacy, “You can put lipstick on a pig; it’s still a pig.”

Even more disgusting, Senator Joe Biden suggested Governor Palin really did not love her Down Syndrome child because, if she did love him, she would support embryonic stem cell research.
————————————

It appears to me that the Obama camp is becoming unglued.

My take on McCain vs Obama FWIW is I don’t want to see taxes raised, either….heck, who does?  BUT….who do you think is going to pay for all these bailouts of every single loser bank, finance company and investment house that comes down the pike?  IF McCain is going to continue with the very same economic farce of the W administration, he won’t get my vote.  I resent the lack of oversight, the so-called free market economy (yeah, right, free market my ass—free only until the bailouts start—free market means you snooze, you lose, but you don’t get a bailout—you go down), and the lack of regulation whether you’re talkin’ about the FDA, the EPA, the SEC, and the AOADTSUOC (any other agency/department that’s screwin’ up our country).

I want to see a candidate who talks about bringing manufacturing BACK TO THE USA!  Who limits and/or taxes the hell out of cheap, Chinese stuff!  Who takes the Clean Air and Clean Water bill seriously WITHOUT trying to gut it!  Who acknowleges the Park Service and gives them enough dollars to keep our National Treasures in good staid!  Who cares about the USofA owning the road system started under Ike; not selling out to foreign entities (same for our ports), and doing the needed repairs to infrastructure (something that has been sorely neglected), but, mostly, I want a candidate who cares about balancing the budget.

Maybe I expect too much.  I don’t think so.  Maybe I’ll vote for Lou Dobbs wink

Boy, I missed a bunch!  Been busy!

Anyway, my “appendectomy” comment was very tongue-in-cheek.  I know what you’re saying, BJ.  “Experience” isn’t the most important thing in the world of politics.  I know that because I am certain that I could do a better job as a county commissioner than the team we have now and I have no experience!  The problem with taking ordinary folks from the rank and file and electing them to represent us is that it is too expensive to reach the voters.  There are so many people.  Back in the day when the entire town would gather at the courthouse to hear someone speak are over (unfortunately).  Just look at how many show up for the commissioners’ town hall meetings.  Now, try to imagine campaigning for President of the U. S. without television (ads costs millions and millions).

By the way…The Obama camp is belittling Palin’s experience level because she is from a small (population) state.  Admittedly, Alaska ranks 4th from the bottom.  Now, where was Howard Dean from again??????

...free market means you snooze, you lose, but you don’t get a bailout—you go down…

I used to think the exact same thing!  It’s very important to understand the government bailouts to which you refer.  There are times when the government must bail out various organizations to protect our economy.  Imagine, if your will, what would happen to the United States economy if Ford and GM shut their doors.  Look how far into everyone’s lives these two companies reach.  The assembly plants, engineers, designers, sales force, mechanics, etc.  Now, think about the steel industry, glass industry, shipping industry, plastics industry, iron ore mining, electronics industry, etc., etc.

If we learn from our mistakes (ie; eliminate the “mark-to-model” economic system and move toward “mark-to-market”) we can provide the public with better and more accurate and timely data by which to make investment decisions.  By improving home loan regulations, we can bring the real estate market back to “reality.”

The government doesn’t just reach in and rescue every business from failure.  In my opinion, for example, Leahman Brothers has a very good chance of going down the tubes.  I doubt they’ll get a “bailout.”  President Bush did not create the home loan crisis.  It was bastardized over years and years.  It fell apart on his watch.

Well, if you haven’t made up your mind yet, take a look at how Obama is reacting to his current campaign difficulties and loss of momentum.

I watched a good piece of his talk to the PA glass factory last week and lots of clips from this week on various networks. His tone and body language are all wrong. He’s talking down to the people in his audience and he looks completely rattled. He let Bill O’Reilly badger him into stating that the surge has “worked beyond our wildest dreams”. Also, I’ve lost count on the number of times Obama has changed his position on taxation (who, when, how much) over the past few months. It seems as though his position on the most critical items affecting the US are subject to significant and constant change.

Do you want a guy that is this easily rattled negotiating on our behalf with Russia, China and the rest of the world? I sure don’t.

The last two weeks cetainly made up my mind. I’ll be voting for McCain…I know…I know…its a useless gesture in this state….but then again so was my registering as an Independent.

Frankly I’m not happy with either team- both scare mefor different reasons- I have never been this torn before and wish we had an alternative that was not aligned with ANY party. It has just been disheartening the attacks and the blaming- like one person caused all this problem. Lets face it- Bush couldnt have done all he did without help. ANd when the Senators and House members berate him on things that happened under his watch- they all knew and stood by- they knew of Getmo and the torture and only when the press leaked it did it become a big deal and outcry developed. Heck the rights taken away during the Patriot act started because of an opening that was signed in by Clinton on his watch, it was just expanded. The votes of these folks demoished the safeguards built into the banking system not only under Bush’s term but Clintons as well- it took years to dismantle a good system.

Yet they all claim experience and expertise- heck I can do without that if this is what the experts do to our Country.

Make sure you read the entire “series” of 12 - each a different topic…Investor’s Business Daily is a highly credible publication, both print and on-line, and none of these articles have been disputed by the Obama camp…just goes to show how much info the “mainstream” media is NOT reporting.  I guess it’s part of their strategy to get THEIR chosen candidate elected…..

From your post of Sept. 11th above, Seahorse:

....who do you think is going to pay for all these bailouts of every single loser bank, finance company and investment house that comes down the pike?

As it turns out, every single “bailout” that the government has undertaken in the past 100 years has actually turned out well for the government.  They have been repaid and, most often, with interest and on time.  Just noticed that during a little “light” reading.  LOL.

Just be grateful that a community organizer is not running the country right now. Obama lacks experience and Biden has been in government longer than McCain. Birdman, you are absolutely correct in companies that have been bailed out pay back everything and go on to be very productive. I’m watching the Palin interview right now and her plan is better than Barack’s. She is answering questions with fact and not rhetoric. It makes me very happy that we have someone with better character in the VP slot than their candidate in the president slot.
I also had a very long conversation with a neighbor of mine, an African American. You should hear what he has to say about obama - not very good.

Its really funny- where ever I go- folks who have been lifelong republicans are intrigued by Obama and scared to death of MCCain getting in. I guess its listening to folks and hearing their feelings about our lives right now, whats been happening in the world- the economy and their concerns for it all which leads to the race- instead of just “Talking politics”.
Most of these are very well educated , well read, “$250,000 salary and up folks, with homes that cost way more than I can afford- and they wouldnt mind paying more of their share under Obama- thats how troubled they are. In the last 6 months Ive been in 6 states and heard the same stuff over and over.

BJ, I guess it’s the circles you in as I’m hearing from Republicans, and Democrats that Obama scares the hell out of them. Lets face it, Hillary would have crushed McCain but the democrats selected the most unelectable person they could find. At a time when the dems should have a clear path to the whitehouse, Obama is struggling. Palin screwed them up big time and Obama made the mistake of attacking her for a week rather than just let it be. To secure the election Obama needs to come clean on taxes, everyone will receive a tax hike if he gets elected and also suffer the consequences if he goes after the corporations.

Carl, that video has been circulating all week. It is one of the most powerful messages I have seen and with almost 9 million views, is impacting the Obama campaign. Another video broke this week with a young woman that survived an abortion and video showing Obama talking against legislation that would leave future babies in this situation be allowed to die. The commercial brought tears to my eyes. Even though I don’t share Palin views on abortion, they should be limited in most cases.

BJG, I’m hearing the same thing, and this from folks who are staunchly Republican.  They like McCain, but….  Why they don’t like McCain is they feel he’s flipped/flopped from the values he held as a Senator (really liked him when he first announced for President—don’t like him now).  Mainly it’s the economy, and that Phil Gramm was (and still probably is) his close economic advisor, and McCain’s voting record over the years has put him squarely in the deregulation camp.

These folks tell me there’s something extremely intriguing about Obama.  Some call it passion; some can’t put a word on him; one really good friend said he speaks like he truely believes what he says and that he could light a fire under anyone’s butt!  Comparing the 2 candidates, I like McCain, but, when I divide the 2 up into pieces, I really like that Obama is steeped in constitutional law, and that ain’t such a bad thing to have in your background in this day and age.

Hey, think I’m talking myself into voting for Obama!  Is that allowed to be said on the DD?  wink

Seahorse, everyone wants to feel good about their choice for president. Obama might make you “feel good” because he is a smooth talker but even in your own post you admit that people can’t put a finger on why they like him. Wouldn’t you want your decision to be based on something other than, “...he seems to really believe what he’s saying”? He hasn’t said a single thing of relevance during this campaign. It’s all meaningless without a plan to pay for his “change.” Based on your assessment of Obama, can I assume that you would vote for me for commissioner if I promised to lower your property taxes, build new schools, fill every pothole, give free wireless internet access to every resident, bring high-tech businesses to the county, etc., as long as I said it very articulately? (Let me know, I may use that as my platform…lol)

At least I can put a finger on why I do like McCain/Palin. I like McCain because he has proven himself to be a man of great character, integrity and intestinal fortitude. I believe that he represents my interests best. He supports business and when business is booming, everyone’s happy! I, unlike the liberal press, like it when my representatives have the guts to raise the BS flag every now and then and call a spade a spade. I like Palin because she has experience governing. She’s the most popular governor in the United States. Her approval rating is 2.5 times that of Martin O’Malley (not that that is hard but it tells me that her constituency likes what she has accomplished). As a governor, her concern SHOULD be the people of Alaska, not some guy in Georgia who disagrees with her policies.

I have at times earned a living by being able to “read” people. I do not trust Barack Obama.

then the more I read opinion papers, listened to opinions on different topics and policies from think tanks, spoke about economics with financial gurus, worried about the environment (water pollution, particulates in the air from the coal industry), no energy policy for the future, the destruction of our protection on National Parks that was perserved for our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and on down to have an area JUST as it was when acquired, the easing up of enforcement of our protections for water, air, land, animal species and botanicals, the burdens imposed on the middle class of $35,000- 90,000 range, and of course our treatment of other countries (cant talk to bad guys) the more I questioned and read- right, left, middle, religious right, no affilitations for any party- JUST FACTS;
The more I doubt the republicans have it.

Now having been a republican since I could vote at 18 and now being 50+ you can see -( and if you have truly read my postings and soul searchings-) how I really searched and agonized.

I still dont know what to do.

But I do know I just dont beleive what a political party spouts- or a candidates verbage.

I agree with you Birdman…there’s just too much we don’t know, mostly re: his associations with known leftist radicals.  I’m also concerned about his “agenda” to socialize medicine and God knows what else.  As for his idea about cutting taxes for 90% of the people, this is horses*&t;!

The small percentage of people making over $250K along with tax cuts for the rest,  won’t be anywhere near enough to fund all the new programs he’s “planning” to implement…which means that eventually EVERYONE will see tax increases….

Neither do I trust him re: our national security - for instance:  From Audacity of Hope: ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’

No, HE CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!!

Again, for anyone who is undecided please read the series of articles published in the Investor’s Business Daily.  If you doubt anything in these articles, I remind you that the Obama camp has NOT disputed anything in these articles.  Here’s the link:

SMEAR EMAIL
‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’

FACT

FULL QUOTE From Audacity of Hope:

“Whenever I appear before immigrant audiences, I can count on some good-natured ribbing from my staff after my speech; according to them, my remarks always follow a three-part structure: “I am your friend,” “[Fill in the home country] has been a cradle of civilization,” and “You embody the American dream.” They’re right, my message is simple, for what I’ve come to understand is that my mere presence before these newly minted Americans serves notice that they matter, that they are voters critical to my success and full-fledged citizens deserving of respect.

“Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” [Page 260-261]

From BJ:
I too study history, it has a lot of uncomfortable truths to confront- not the sanitized or pc version but the real events. I too would hope every American would stand with them shoulder to shoulder- and say never again will this happen to Americans or any Nationality or Religion.

It’s funny that Obama is quick to pass judgement on this out of context quote trying to prove he is not a Muslim but he makes commercials using partial quotes from Rush Limbaugh. That makes Obama a liar and you think he can be the president of the free world.

“Mr. Obama’s campaign is now trafficking in prejudice of its own making. And in doing so, it is playing with political dynamite. What kind of potential president would let his campaign knowingly extract two incomplete, out-of-context lines from two radio parodies and build a framework of hate around them in order to exploit racial tensions? The segregationists of the 1950s and 1960s were famous for such vile fear-mongering”.

I too study history and Obama makes me very uncomfortable. Just this issue alone should cast a huge shadow of doubt over the most inexperienced person to ever run for president. Thank GOD John McCain understand that these people want to KILL us, but Obama wants to talk to them - GOD help us all if he gets elected.

Its funny for you, Bruce,  of all folks to say that- you spew hatred and all kinds of vile rumors and every lying email that comes across your screen. You have even said check the facts on your posts ,on a specific site: which I have, but apparently you didnt read in full when you post them, because they always disprove your points.
If you cant read a half of a page- I dont think I have to worry about your scholarly pursuits.  I AM appalled however at how many beleive these things you say.

If we all thought as you did and spoke as you do, the whole world would be shooting at each other and bombing each other instead of trying to undertsand and work together. We only have one world- and like it or not, we HAVE to share.

Bruce does, because we heare it repeatedly- new, each time.

Have you read the ENTIRE 15 part series at the Investor’s Business Daily?  If not, I suggest you do so before defending Obama.  As I said previously, the Obama camp has NOT disputed any of it….

When WW III Started****1979

This is not very long, but very informative. You have to read the catalogue of events in this brief piece. Then, ask yourself how anyone can take the position that all we have to do is bring our troops home from Iraq, sit back, reset the snooze alarm, go back to sleep, and no one will ever bother us again. In case you missed it, World War III began in November 1979… That alarm has been ringing for years.

US Navy Captain Ouimette is the Executive Officer at Naval Air Station, Pensacola , Florida . Here is a copy of the speech he gave last month. It is an accurate account of why we are in so much trouble today and why this action is so necessary.

AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP!

That’s what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been ‘Get Out of Bed!’ In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran . This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world’s most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency.. The attack on this sovereign U. S. Embassy set the stage for events to follow for the next 25 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America’s inability to deal with terrorism.

America’s military had been decimated and down sized/right sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start.

Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued.

In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more.

Then just six short months later in 1983 a large truck heavily laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.

Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait , and America continues her slumber.

The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe . In April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid

Then in August 1985 a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked.

Fifty-nine days later in 1985 a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.

The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988 , killing 259.

The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder.

The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America . In January 1993 , two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley , Virginia

The following month, February 1993 , a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war? The Snooze alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.

A few months later in June of 1996 , another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran , Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers , a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively.

They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania .. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000 , when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America . How wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep.

can I assume that you would vote for me for commissioner if I promised to lower your property taxes, build new schools, fill every pothole, give free wireless internet access to every resident, bring high-tech businesses to the county, etc., as long as I said it very articulately? (Let me know, I may use that as my platform…lol)

Good going, Birdman….hell, yeah, I’d vote for you if you promised the above even if you weren’t articulate.  One thing to add, though, if you don’t mention the depletion of potable drinking water, Cheryl will bop you over the head!  wink

when WW III Started****1979

Cheryl, I do not dispute snything in your chronicsl events. I am very aware of all those events AND more.

They happened with Carter, with first Bush, many with Clinton who was very weak on answering the attacks on our soil and the geneocide on others. In fact 9/11 happened because of the lack of responce in the Clinton aDMIN. i AM SURE (AND i AM SURE OTHERS WILL DISPUTE ME ON THAT)

But what has that to do with speaking up and having dialoge with Countries that have ill will- I always thought that what diplomacy was about- not espionoge and spying (which was the underlying mission n the past).

You know in the present Court system many cases go to Mediation= and many times solved without huge legasl fights that destroy everyone in its path.

Thats what I think opening dialogue is supposed to do- it doesnt mean we turn a blind eye on events.

Then when agression is shown to us-it is met right away with strengh- much more effective, I think. Quick punishment= we are gone.

What is wrong with this?

“Then when agression is shown to us-it is met right away with strengh- much more effective, I think.”

What type of “aggression” - another Pearl Harbor or 911?  This is what we constantly have to be on guard against and take pro-active and in some cases,  preemptive action IF NECESSARY.

I agree with you about constructive dialogue, but sometimes, it doesn’t work, especially with radicals who are not interested in
“dialogue or discussion” but who are determined to destroy the U.S. and our way of life, by whatever means they deem “necessary”.

Unfortunately, this is the way it is and it must be dealt with…remember, the U.S. has not been attacked for 7 years which I attribute to the U.S. taking the fight to the enemy’s backyard so to speak….

Now seahorse, about the water supply, if Bruce is ever Commissioner, I’ll be on his case like flies on s*&t;on that matter, that’s for sure!!
