The warning doesn’t include Charles.

The warning doesn’t include Charles.

The “Alert” I received yesterday (09/07/10) listed Charles, P.G., Calvert, and St. Mary’s as being in the “Code Red” alert area. I also found out that communications told an engine co. responding for an unattended fire to warn the person responsible of the “High Fire Hazard” conditions.

Again, never rec’d any kind of alert from the Charles County CNS in ref to the severe TS and wind gust’s we got here in Charles County last night, but I did recieve plenty of good info from King Goerge, Prince Williams, and Stafford thank goodness.

But just like everything else our county government has done in the past, the CNS is a big failure?

i think those storms passed through well after midnight.

i’ve always gotten updates when info needed to be disseminated during normal business hours. i doubt this is an automated system. is someone paid to be “on call” 24/7 to send out updates when they occur? it likely takes a human to snag the NWS text and makes something happen in the CNS.

as i mentioned way up thread, i think the CNS is a failure based on the fact that it’s outsourced. honestly, does anyone who cares about weather really not have it figured out how to get alerts custom tailored to their specific locale sent directly to their mobile device?

Well since we now know that the CNS is only used by the county during business hours… The CNS as implemented is useless.

I got my notification at 0602:

Date: Wed, 1 Dec 2010 05:02:21 -0600

Good, so that’s a bit of an improvement. Someone’s up early.

WOW!!!!!! I just received the CNS Alert below dtd 14 Feb 2011 in my e-mail and in a text on my phone today 15 Feb 2011, glad it wasn’t real important to me or my family.

Whoever is in charge of this operation really needs to find someone else to run it, because whoever is tasked to dispatch these CNS alerts is sleeping on the job.

Must have stepped on someones toes, seeing how they removed the CNS Alert dtd 02/14/2011, that they sent out on 02/15/2011. Just like Charles County, always a day late and a dollar short.
