Yes I feel very “SAFE” every morning on the way to work when I see all the police cars parked at the fast food and coffee spots.  It’s just great to know the taxpayers pay for thier time to have breakfast, lunch and dinner while on duty.  I hope the new Sheriff will make the right changes.

JoanB,

Before you go attacking officers for no good reason, why don’t you watch this short video.  And please tell us what the “right decision” “the new Sheriff” should make about eating.

Rex Coffee has kept crime in check while working with a smaller budget.  Why would we want to change?
As to the police cars at the coffee shops: to you get a break at your job or do you work straight through?  And I like the visibility of having the police cars in store parking lots.

Now this is the pot calling the kettle back… Dave, how can you post here with a straight face and look us in the monitor and tell us you never took a break, you were diligent, with your fingers to the grind stone day in and day out. Holding the ever pressing urge to urinate or defecate until you were off duty, you fought back hunger pains, for your job was to protect the citizens of Charles County from the ravages of crime, the protector of society… Dave, I am sorry YOU lost the election, but please grow up, stop trying to incite the members of the blog with your petty tit-for-tat rhetoric.

Sure you may have a few who abuses a break, every once and a while, but that is life, no matter what the occupation is, you will find someone off doing what they should not be doing, but that is the exception not the norm.

The officers in this county do fine job, if they need a few minutes to have a little down time, so be it, they need it and they deserve it…without derogatory accusations by you.

I do too, Hydrilla, and I like seeing policemen and women in a store walking around (like WaWa).  I don’t care if they’re going to the bathroom or getting a cup of coffee; it’s good to see them mingling with the store patrons, and many smile and say hi to them.  On a basic, individual level it’s good community relations.

Many of these stores give law enforcement and emergency responders free coffee or discounts so they will come in and show a police presence. The criminals never know when one will stop in so it is a big deterrence with little outlay by the stores- and it also shows appreciation to those who risk all every day.

I also want to point out that our Law Enforcement use their cars after work and for family shopping etc. These men and women may be off duty eating or shopping- but the cars are there acting as deterrents.

Do you eat lunch at work? Are the officers not allowed to eat? You post is ridiculous, if you don’t appreciate the men and women of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office then don’t call us when you need help.
