The more I find out about Mr Derencin, the more I like him. He seems thoughtful and doesn’t just throw out the same-o, same-o sound bite stuff that some candidates think voters want to hear. His website http://www.electdonderencin.com/ has more and better info than his Facebook site. He’s done in-depth studying on the different issues confronting all of us citizens here in CC and has a good handle on the more glaring ones that can affect all of us.
Three Republicans, Campbell, Derencin and Vrem, with more to offer ALL CC citizens, regardless of party affiliation, than any of the Democratic candidates. Go figure! If I sound surprised, it’s because I am!
And, near as I can figure, all three are “independent” thinkers…not marching in lock-step with the “party”.
I think the best way to decide for whom to vote in this (or any) election is to ask yourself, “If I had no idea which party to which this candidate belonged, would I vote for him/her?”
all three are “independent” thinkers…not marching in lock-step with the “party”.
Which is exactly why I like these 3 candidates. So, I have to ask…is the local Republican Party supporting them or are they hands off because they don’t march in lock-step?
Thank you for the kind words. I have received nothing but support from the RCC. They have welcomed me and have given me encouragement and suggestions. I hope the Forum on Wednesday night is well attended and I can get more residents to hear my thoughts and visions for Charles County present and future.
Just noticed all the endorsements Don Derencin has collected including the Duck (yay, Quack). He does seem like the best candidate for D4 Commissioner. He’s thought through the issues and has a viable platform with workable, doable ideas. He’d be a good mix with Kelly, Robinson, Vrem, and Campbell. FWIW, my opinion only, but I think these 5 could really do some great things for CC.
Seen all those “Vote for Rucci” signs around the county? Want to know where the money’s coming from? Almost $5,000 in Rucci’s account is from the Realtors PAC. We don’t need more influence from realtors. We’ve had four years of developers’ and realtors’ influence on the Commissioners. It’s time for a change. Go to http://www.mdelections.org/campaign-finance/candidate#tab3 and check it out for yourself. Use the Advanced Search to find the list of contributors.
Don Derencin has my support.

Yeah, and that’s all this guy has to offer is a bunch of signs.
I disagree.
Many have noticed that it took the Delusional Duck a looooooong time to decide which candidate to endorse for District 4. Rucci is a great candidate, and if elected DOES have something to bring to the table.
It is not often that we, as voters, have a choice of deciding between two good candidates. All too often we’re left choosing the lesser of two evils—but still choosing an evil. This year in District 4 either candidate will likely serve the interests of Charles County well. Both candidates are knowledgeable of the issues facing the county in their respective areas—and thus their split endorsements—both candidates care deeply about this county and the direction its been heading.
In the end, Delusional Duck chose to endorse Don Derencin, but if Bobby Rucci is elected, the citizens will still be well served and Bobby Rucci will make a fine commissioner.

I noticed that you did take a looooong time endorsing for D4. I was being a smartass with my sign comment. To elaborate, I find more depth on Mr Derencin’s website than I do with Mr Rucci’s platform on his website. Guess I just expect to read thoughtful ideas on a website, and, not knowing either candidate, there’s not really a huge amount of info to go on. Still and all, no excuse for the cheap shot. I apologize.

No need to. I do notice the website, too… as I did with other candidates in other districts.
I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew that both Don and Bobby are good men who will likely do well as commissioner, regardless of who is elected.
The Delusional Duck finally came to a decision after sitting down with both Don and Bobby separately (Don, I don’t think, knew he was being questioned by the `Duck… maybe he did). We’ve seen both speak at forums, spoken to them at fundraisers and seen both at numerous community events.
Don and Bobby stand together on many issues. The only issues that really divide them, although both support the issues, are education and public safety. Bobby knows more on the issue of public safety than Don, but Don knows more on the issue of education than Bobby. But neither are unaware of the importance or the problems facing either issue. It merely boiled down to the exposure each candidate has with those issues. As I mentioned, that’s likely why Rucci received the backing of IAFF and FOP and Don received the backing of the EACC (and many others).
Rucci is a great candidate, and if elected DOES have something to bring to the table.
Up ‘til now, I have respected your endorsements, Quack. I may not have always agreed, but I have no problem with how you came to your conclusions and I believe that you did plenty of homework. But Rucci? Really? Have you heard him speak and try to answer questions at any of the local forums? I gotta say, I just don’t see it. I think he has a great shot at a win here, but, IMHO, it will have nothing to do with his abilities.
As for the real estate PAC, I heard it was $6000. I could be wrong but I sure don’t want one of my commissioners owing so much to one group…especially that one.

I have to disagree with this one (no offense).
None taken. I am a little confused though, I chose to endorse Don Derencin. I think he is the better of two good choices. Your comments seem to think I endorsed Rucci. My comments were to defend him as more than mere signs all over the county. He’s a good man, a good businessman, a good candidate and if elected, will be a fine commissioner. All of that said, Delusional Duck endorsed Don. Don is all of those things, and side by side, Delusional Duck thinks Don Derencin to be slightly better. And it wasn’t without a lot of weighing the pros and cons of each candidate.
I will be surprised on Tuesday night if Rucci doesn’t win, though, my vote went to Derencin.
