A PAC- doesnt necessarily mean you owe them- the process a candidate goes thru to get a mere $0 to $5000 sometimes is incredible.
If you look at the website for SMAR; you can see for yourself it is all goals we all can buy into

Do not confuse SMAR-PAC with developers.  Their interests are different and they are often at odds with each other.

A realtor is likely to a neighbor of yours.

This is one of those cases where I opened my mouth just long enough to switch feet!  I read the thread quickly and mistakenly thought that you had endorsed Rucci.  Pay no attention to my stupidity!

As for the PAC, I wasn’t singling out SMAR.  I don’t like it when any group hands large sums to any candidate.  It gives the appearance of putting the candidate in a position to say “thank you” later, so to speak.  The reason I said, “...especially that one”, is because, IMHO, a realty PAC’s interests are of course going to fall into line with development.  I’m simply not happy with the way development is headed in CC.

My fellow comrades of The People’s Republic of Maryland have spoken. Now, hopefully, someone will make my house payment for me!

I want to thank everyone who followed my campaign for Charles County Commissioner. I learned a great deal about the county and the issues that have shaped it and will shape it in the future. I was fortunate to meet and learn from all the candidates. Charles County had some candidates that were very educated on the issues and had to make some tough choices at the polls. The voters spoke and they spoke loudly that they wanted 5 Democratic commissioners with their partisan voting.
As a Republican, I will be working to get our message out to Charles County. We had candidates that were endorsed by the EACC, the Sierra Club, the FOP,and the IAFF. Our party is changing and we need to continue to get this information to the voters. This will not be easy, but it is not impossible. There are some very intelligent and caring individuals on this forum. How about some ideas and some help to make Charles County a two party county again?
Thanks again.

Close and tear down the Mall as a first step, but seriously how do you educate a large population of the County who will always vote for a Democrat no matter the issues?
Great if your a Democrat but our system needs people from both dominate parties if we don’t just look up the road to PG and Baltimore City and theres been Democrates in charge for years and things always seem to get worse but they keep getting relected.  I guess as long as the chorus of blame Bush, Cheney, Erhlich, The Man, is lounder and smucks like Busch, Miller and yes O’Malley are looked upon as great Leadr’s well we better get use to it because in my opinion we are becomming the California of the eastcoast.

I don’t think the Republicans have all the answers but a solid Democratic lock is not the answer.
More people will continue to leave Charles and Maryland so eventually all the freebee getters, deadbeats and illegals will have to start paying their own way and won’t that be sweet.
Charles Countys dream to grow into some urban mecca which has been put on us all by Greedy Developer’s, Inept politicians and their Real Estate used car sales people who don’t give a crap about the county just as long as there is money to be made by paving over the land and draining the groundwater.

Solutions I guess continued education on issues but it will be as hard as drinking a glass of that WSSC poop water.

Now THAT was helpful. I think Don places a sincere post asking for comments.

Especially when Don is also a car salesman who cares about this county and his campaign was about fixing problems.

The citizens of this county need to wake up and take action. It’s like what our 20th president said about elections:

“Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature… If the next centennial does not find us a great nation, it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.” - James A. Garfield, 20th President of the United States

The government positions shouldn’t be about the party being elected, but about what the people want out of their government. It’s clear voters here haven’t invested themselves in the people they elect. Although I’m optimistic about the new administration elected, there is still plenty of work to do to help change the mindset of Charles County voters. This is the first time I have invested myself into an election and really see how little I cared before about elections. It was surprising at the polls how many people I met who didn’t know the issues or the candidates as they went into vote. As concerned citizens we need to combat that mindset. We don’t have to agree on how to fix the issues as long as we all realize there is an issue that needs to be fixed.
