There are a lot of good, kind-hearted people who read this blog, so, I want to share an email request from a good friend, who is reaching out for help from the community for a good person:
I am proud to call Scott Boteler a good friend. He works for Wooster drilling. Chances are he drilled the water well for your home. That is how I met him in 1987. He is also a life-long firefighter with the Bel Alton VFD, where he lives right next to the station. If you live in Southern Maryland, chances are you know one of his 9 brothers and sisters, who are also good people.
Scotty has a wonderful wife (Mary Ann) and several grown children. He and his wife are raising their wonderful grandson Brian, who is 6 years old. Brian just idolizes his “Pop-pop”.
Scotty is younger than me (I am 53). He has contracted one of the rarest forms of cancer there is (a form of Lymphoma). National Institutes of Health has been giving him experimental chemo treatments, and the results in combating the tumors in his body have been amazingly good. He has had some ups and downs, because the chemo kills his immune system. He is also just so tired, but he is a fighter who will never quit. We had a talk about this about two months ago. His goal in life now is just to beat this thing for his family, and especially for little Brian.
You will never meet more kind, hard-working, God-fearing decent people than Scot and Mary Ann. They are exactly the kind of people I moved to Charles County to associate with.
I am forwarding an e-mail from Scotty’s daughter Brenda. They are planning a fundraising event to help them pay for the never-ending bills associated with Scot and Mary Ann both being out of work (due to the illness and hospitals and medical appointments) and the medical bills. Please contact me or Brenda if you can help with the fundraiser, or contribute an auction item of some kind. Brenda’s e-mail address is the only address in the CC row above. THE FUNDRAISER IS MARCH 20th AT THE BEL ALTON FIREHOUSE. PLEASE COME! Flyer with info, click here: ScottDance.pdf
There really is a God, and He always hears our prayers. We don’t always get what we pray for, of course, but prayers have worked many miracles. Please join us in praying for Scotty, Mary Ann, Brian, and the whole (enormous) Boteler family. It is an honor to count them as friends.
