Burdened by the Weight of Inflation
Nearly seven in 10 Americans are worried about maintaining their standard of living, as concern has spiked higher in just the past five months, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. Soaring consumer prices are a major challenge, with many people struggling under the weight of the rising costs of fuel, food and health care.

10 out of 10 says the governent needs to pull out the technology that has been developed in the past and put it in use, now, for energy production.

- 2 · I'm going to Alaska--be back in a couple of weeks. I expect you to have the energy crisis resolved by then or I'm going to press for that 2-foot tube across the tundra that won't hurt anything and will buy us time to put your technology to work. Do you realize that we only have 3 States that allow drilling off of their coast in the Gulf of Mexico even though it has been determined that vast quantities of easily obtainable and safe drilling methods exist to extract it? I don't want to hear people crying about the high cost of gas when there are ample opportunities to reduce the cost almost immediately if only we could convice the 'tree huggers' that the end of the world is not at hand if we do just a few of the things that are available to us right now.

I dont cry about the high cost of gas cause we have had it easy all these years and had a lot of forwarning- in fact until it is about $6 people will not slow down their consumption.
Of all those who are getting their "economic stimulas" check- how many are going to insulate or make other energy efficient measurers to their home so heating and cooling it will not use so much fuel?
I bet 1%.
We can do things to reduce and until it is painful, we spoiled people in the US will not want to curtail any of our living the good life.
The cost of gas is up because of CHinas consumption which will just increase and increase, not get smaller, so dont look for releif there. In fact because of their consumption it is running out faster than we thought.
Just like our Drinking water.
So lets get on the band wagon here and do what we need to do. We can still have a good life- you just might have to reconsider your choices somewhat.
