Carroll County has struck an agreement with state officials to avoid imposing fees to pay for stormwater pollution controls by using funding runoff fixes with property tax revenue.
But don’t expect Anne Arundel County to follow suit.
County Councilman Chris Trumbauer, D-Annapolis, who worked to get stormwater legislation passed, thinks Carroll’s arrangement will likely catch up with that jurisdiction.
“Carroll County has bought itself some time,” Trumbauer said, but the costs involved to meet and keep up with stormwater pollution reduction requirements will be a challenge for them. “They will have to raise more money.”
