Charles County cannot afford sprawl

SoMdNews.com - LTE,

I have heard the comment that downzoning and smart growth will ruin property values, but I have heard no evidence to support this claim. Those who say this may be using the strategy that if you say something often enough, people will believe it is true.

Studies show that Charles County has enough housing in the pipeline to meet 90 percent of the county’s needs until 2040. Yet some still believe that they can profit from a demand for additional sprawl housing.

  • 2. · Nice Letter! Unfortunately the people who need to read it, the majority on the planning commission, only believe what the "Balanced Growth" people tell them to believe. We have to end the taxpayer subsidy of sprawl.

  • 4. · I was at Candices in Indian Head- and she can bring it- wish I had her vitamins or what ever it is.

    You guys- it is important to keep her in office. Recall that the last election was very close.

    We need to start now telling those who care about the communities where they live that she is on the side of intelligent choices- not driven by other things.

    I mean you all know she is not compensated for all she does, she doesnt need the money or the headache. She has her own business- yet she is out there committed to a Great County. WE KNOW SHE IS IN NO ONES POCKET.

    It is not too early- in fact all the in between time is the best for great conversations.

    AND Howard. You and Nancy are so right on- I wish I had your eloquence.
