Don’t Miss the La Plata Chili Cook-Off

The Bay Net,

It’s time to get those entry forms in for the annual La Plata Chili Cook-Off which takes place on Saturday, September 11, 2010 on the grounds of La Plata Town Hall.  With the event just a few weeks away, the deadline is coming up fast; contestants must have their entry forms turned in no later than Friday September 3, 2010.

Entry forms are available at the Town’s website, www.TownofLaPlata.org.  Click on “events” and scroll down to the bottom of the page for a pdf of the registration form.  Hard copies are available at La Plata Town Hall at 305 Queen Anne Street in La Plata.  Contestants can also request to have forms mailed or emailed by contacting the Town’s Special Events Coordinator, Marcia Keeth, at (301) 934-8421 ext. 142 or MKeeth@TownofLaPlata.org.

The La Plata Chili Cook-Off was an enormous hit when it debuted last year.  Contestants entered in 3 categories, traditional (meat and bean), meat only, and vegetarian, with winners selected in each.  This year’s Cook-Off includes those same three categories, plus a new one:  the Firehouse Challenge, in which Fire Departments have been invited to compete against each other in their own, separate division, regardless of the type of chili.
[...]
The La Plata Chili Cook-Off will also feature entertainment and activities for all ages.  Children can participate in arts and crafts, get their pictures taken on the giant, red chair, and try out the Moon Bounce or Obstacle Course.  There will be live music from the Three Sixty Band throughout the day, and in addition the chili, there will be plenty of other good things to eat.
