Duck Hotline—An Avid Watcher of Channel 95 Wants to Know…
about “a new program on 95 - a woman doing exercises with 4 women at the Waldorf Jaycee’s. Who is paying for this programming and who is taping and producing? I heard that the count has hired 3 - 4 additional videographers and is producing programming.
With all the fiscal demands faced by the Commissioners and the need for cost cutting, what is is the rationale for this expenditure for amateur programs that are easily found elsewhere on cable channels at no cost to county citizens?
What is their intent? One might wonder if they aren’t intending to produce propaganda and publicity for the sitting commissioners?”

- 1 · I believe that Chan.95 is aired by the county but anything produced is not county funded.
At least that is how it is supposed to be.
- 2 · I know I turn on that channel and see a group of ladies sitting doing exercises- I guess its good for homebound people or those of limited mobility- but if you get cable, you already get that stuff, and better.
All the places I visit have a Town Channell and they produce tourism video. Wouldn"t it be nice to turn on and see a quick tour spot on whats available to do and see as well as where to eat and then, maybe 30 minute or more shows on historic attractions. Even citizens maybe interested not just tourists.
Also reruns if they can get it of PBS shows like the nature and waterways of MD- critical areas, birding, ..... particularly focusing on those that impact or of interest to Charles COunty.
We have a tourism office, we have historical societies... they can request video from interested places- like the Dr Mudd house, Thomas STone House.... so it needent cost a fortune. In fact most of them I see have a of mild "historian" type of person highlighting the area.
But you could have fisherman groups do a video on bass and yellow perch, you could have the Mattawoman Society sending in a video of its importance and its lovely sights.
The possibilites are endless.
A man must learn to understand the motives of human beings, their illusions, and their sufferings. einstein
