  • 1. · I would like to thank Planning and growth management for building up the county into the sewer it has become. Welcome to the new PeeGee.

  • 2. · Don't anyone worry. The new bike path is completely safe because it is located between the two killing fields of Waldorf and LaPlata and is highly patrolled by uniform policemen.

  • 3. · There is an old rock/roll song by a group called the Pretenders, I believe its called "Back to Ohio", the song laments the changes that one experiences when returning to their home after a long absence. One line in the song reminds me of what has happened to our County, its simple and short, "my city is gone"

  • 4. · you guys really need to think about pulling up your big girl panties and decide either to adapt and survive or do something about changes you don't like other than bitch about them.

  • 5. · Interesting post by psycho. I hate to say it but I agree. There comes a point where as a county resident you have to think will it get better or will it get worse? I am to the point now where I just go with the flow. Everyone can see the progression of crime is steadily moving south. The growth explosion began in DC in the late '70's then progressively moved south into PG in the '80's and '90's. Now it's here...in Charles County. Geographically speaking we cannot move any further south in this county. So essentially we are stuck with the crime and excessive growth we have now. Several years ago the county commissioners were scared to death to become the next PG County. Now all of a sudden their priorites have me confused. Several factors can be blamed for this. I am not going to go into all of them...a new post would be needed for that. Just my two cents for what's it worth. I hate to see what this county will look like in five to ten years. One person I will blame is Wayne Cooper who is sees himself as "transparent" since he came into office. What a joke!

This point has been brought up before. Maybe the posters are doing something about changes they don't like. Here, they are anonymous, but, may be very involved in the county. Psycho, you posted anonymously - have you pulled up your "big girl panties"? If so, did you choose to 1. adapt and survive; or 2. are you doing something about changes you don't like; or 3. are you just bitching about posters' comments?

  • 7. · good questions, ccc. yes, i am an activist and very involved.

whenever i see the words "the next pg county," i cringe because i think to some, "the next pg county" is a euphemism for something that they won't utter in public. this is sad.

Then, we have a lot in common. I, too, am an activist and very involved. This blog is just another way to motivate involvement and action. Some lead, others follow, each in their own way.

  • 9. · Also, my perception of the phrase "the next PG County" only results in thoughts of bad management, drugs and high crime. That's not the reputation I want for my home county. And, I might add, I have made several wonderful new friends who have moved here from PG county seeking a better quality of life than they had in PG...
