Indy LTE: Tell commissioners you want your property tax rate reduced

Tonight, May 14, the Charles County commissioners will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. to increase real property taxes. The commissioners are proposing to maintain the current property tax rate of $1.026 per $100 of assessed property value.

With the increases in the assessed value of real property, the county estimates that property tax revenues will increase by 9 percent if the current property tax rate remains the same. What this means in plain English is that the county commissioners want to increase the amount of property taxes you will pay in fiscal 2009 another 9 percent.

  • 2 · WE HAVE A BUNCH OF IRRESPONSIBLE LUNATICS, IN THE FACE OF SKYROCKETING FORECLOSURE RATES, UP 65 PERCENT. SO, WHY NOT ADD TO THAT FINANCIAL DISTRUCTION.

Look, they can't run a county, loose an incredible amount of residents that relocate, and are driving out even more with a lousy school system, top heavier than Dolly Parton on the administrative side.

Get these people the HELL out of office as soon as possible. Is it too late to have a recall of the election? In my mind, it is way overdue, and certainly well worth it, even if it's a day sooner than their removal from office by the ballot box.

Write to the paper, write to THEM, write to the state legislature, the FDIC, Fannie Mae, etc.

Anyone that does not want their money supporting this type of socialist behaviour, as well as irresponsible fiscal policy needs to get these yo-hos out of office and back in the private sector, where they can pull their weight like the rest of us taxpayers.
