A parade of lawmakers came before their respective chambers’ budget committees on Saturday promoting a monument to black war veterans in Lexington Park, a handicapped-accessible athletic field in La Plata and a recreational complex in Chesapeake Beach.
They are three of the nearly 250 bond bill requests submitted by legislators hoping to get a piece of the $15 million set aside for legislative initiatives this year — the same amount that has been in place for several years, even as budget pressures have intensified.
