MARYLAND: Tree-killing beetle discovered in Charles County
A beetle that has destroyed millions of ash trees in the U.S. has turned up in Charles County, and officials are expanding a quarantine in an attempt to contain the pest.

Officials say the discovery has led to an expanded quarantine that prohibits anyone from moving ash trees or any firewood out of Prince George’s or Charles counties. Residents also are urged not to plant ash trees in the area.
