MEDIA ADVISORY: Commissioners to Hold Press Conference…

...on State Plan to Shift Teacher Pension Costs

Proposals now under consideration in the Maryland General Assembly will shift more than $240 million in teacher pension costs from the state to county budgets. If the plan is approved, counties will face a crippling budget crisis.

The Charles County Board of Commissioners is hosting a press conference on Tuesday, February 28, to highlight the issue and make a statement about funding cuts that may result from the state’s proposed pension shift.

  • 1. · If I were the commissioners I would get a crack lawyer - how can they "shift" this burden that the state was guaranteeing for STATE jobs?

    To CQK's credit I heard her talking about this when she was a candidate at our town hall meeting, so did some research on the matter.

    This has been on the table for a while, as a way for the State to bail out on its obligations - this would be devastating to Charles County. And ALL Counties for that matter ! I simply don't see how this can be allowed.


    Lets see some leadership. Collins and Davis - get your lawyer hats on now !!
