More cuts to state budget may be ahead
Many in the General Assembly are bracing for bad news when the state gets its fall revenue projections, and some are preparing for another round of budget cuts — possibly this year — as they look at a deficit for fiscal 2010 that some are estimating will be as high as $1 billion.
[...]
Del. Murray D. Levy, D-Charles, said he has studied recent revenue reports from the Maryland Comptroller’s office, and believes that the state could be facing a gap of around $1 billion by the time the General Assembly begins crafting the budget for fiscal 2010 next year.
Levy said he checked his estimates with the nonpartisan Department of Legislative Services. Staff there said Tuesday that a $1 billion gap is possible, but final estimates can’t be calculated until after information on 2008 becomes available.

Yet he doesn't seem concerned about the state spending millions for stadiums....in fact he "championed" the Regency Furniture Stadium!
In any case, get ready for some more state income tax increases - this is definitely where all this is heading.

What can be in their minds ? is not a ball park, an ice rink, and an exercise facility enough for me to "own" right now, why do I want to "own" part of a highway ?

The ONLY "reason" for this highway is to accommodate more development, and to push as much development as possible to the Bryans Road, Indian Head areas, which in time will "justify" the "need" for a new bridge connecting Charles County to Woodbridge VA!!
The bridge idea has been around since the mid-60's! I remember vividly my father talking about it and saying that it was just part of the politician's & developer's "plan" to attract more development to the County.
Boy, he hit the nail on the head, didn't he??

What's more, they are the same folks who get their "news" from Jay Leno! It's not like they're smart enough to figure things out on their own!
