O’Malley places top aides in new pay grade

Washington Times, by Tom LoBianco

Gov. Martin O’Malley created a new pay grade for top members of his administration, including Public Service Commission Chairman Steven B. Larsen, according to documents obtained by The Washington Times.

The discovery follows recent findings that Mr. O’Malley, a Democrat, gave more than $600,000 in pay raises to 47 of his top aides, even as state workers face potential cuts in pay raises.

  • 1. · We had placed the HIGHEST HOPES in O'Malley ... but, then we thought Spitzer was great, too !

All I can say is, how DUMB could we get ?

  • 2. · Can you believe it? O'malley's top aides at the State level are almost making as much as Charles County's Superintendent and Associate Superintendent of Schools are making at the County level. The citizens of Charles County should look to themselves first and then to the Board of Education and the County Commissioners who they elected when it comes to over-paying their public servants. A lot of people (unfortunately, not enough) placed NO HOPE in O'Malley and now those who originally did (even after seeing what a disaster he was as Mayor of Baltimore) are seeing the light--albeit a tad too late.

  • 3. · We had such hard fights with Ehrlich on THE BAY, on the BOARD OF ETHICS, on ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS, on the BOARD OF ELECTIONS and other issues.

Now, Ehrlich is statring to look more and more like an ANGEL in comparison to O'Malley !

  • 4. · Had to do something with all the new taxes they raised. This should have been the last thing on his list to do. I'll bet the CASA and those idiotic groups have no problem with it as long as they get their share and the rest of us real citizen's get screwed. You get what you vote for, Socialist piece of Progressive garbage, did I mention liar?
Erhlich in his worst day was never this bad and the state in spite of the Geneal Assembly was better off and would have been better prepared for this economic uncertainty. Keep voting these dimwitts in and maybe the entire state will become one big Baltimore City full of crime, losers, deadbeats, illegals, and no middle class or small businesses. Wait to you get that tax bill, you better get 6 jobs each and work untill 90 only for middle class others get a free ride. Amigo's where is my rebate!!!!!!!

  • 5. · I know one who has reached the top of his pitiful step pay grade (nowhere near the lowest paid BOE employess I bet)after about 18 yrs in County Govt. So no more raises besides COL for this dedicated employee.
What is this employee supposed to do, be happy that it is the top step and as far as they can go- or should there be considerations for raising it (especailly when new hires come in at a higher pay?)
Then we read of stories such as this. If you are someone- or know someone, perks show up...if you play it straight and keep your nose out of "politicing' you are screwed for the rest of your career.
