OPINION: Our Democratic Duty
On Tuesday, November 4, citizens in Maryland and around the nation will participate in one of freedom’s greatest privileges, to vote for the next President of the United States and the direction of our nation in this critical time. In this historic election, much is at stake for Maryland and for our nation. State and local Board of Elections officials are preparing for the expected high voter turnout in Maryland, to ensure that no voter is unduly burdened while carrying out their democratic right to vote:

- 1. · Voting has always been a right very few have chosen to exercise. Blacks,Whites, Greens or Blues- doesn't matter what color you are-
Change could have happened IF AMERICANS would have done their civic duty and voted.
All of a sudden there is more to "get excited about" because there is such a gifted speaker out there who is touting change.
Personally, I am so tired of the word change.
After everything is said & done- it will be change all right. Serves them right - just like it happened here in this county.
There will be no checks and balances and what we see here locally will become nationwide.
My question to all the new registrants- where were you years ago when you had a chance to change the political climate and will you continue to vote or will you just go back to complaining because nothing is "fair"?

It was actually written by Reverend William J. H. Boetcke, often erroneously attributed to Honest Abe:
"You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
"You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
"You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
"You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
"You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
"You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
"You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
"You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
"You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.
"You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves."
