Public Meeting on proposed Zoning Map Amendments #09-36 and #09-37…

...and proposed Master Plan Amendment #09-90(15)

Maryland Independent,

Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Planning Commission will hold a Public Meeting on proposed Zoning Map Amendments #09-36 and #09-37 and proposed Master Plan Amendment #09-90(15) for the Villages of Wooded Glen & Piney Reach Master Plan at their regularly scheduled meeting on September 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the County Commissioner’s Meeting Room located in the Charles County Government building, La Plata, Maryland.

The applicant, St. Charles Community LLC, has requested an amendment to change the existing base zone of Rural Residential (RR) to Planned Unit Development (PUD) for a 30.45 acre property located along the north side of MD Route 488 across from the Roosevelt Heights subdivision, east of the town of La Plata, Maryland, also known as Tax Map 34, Grid 13, Parcel 149 or the Mitchell property. The applicant has also requested an amendment to change the existing base zone of Medium-Density Residential (RM) to Planned Unit Development (PUD) for a 90.085 acre property located north of MD Route 488 within the same general vicinity of the Mitchell Property described above, but north and slightly west of that property, and immediately east of Laurel Springs Park, also known as Tax Map 24, Grid 6, part of Parcel 1 or the Beall property. The proposed areas for rezoning are more specifically shown on an exhibit located in the Department of Planning & Growth Management.

The applicant, St. Charles Community LLC, has also requested approval for an amendment to the Villages of Wooded Glen & Piney Reach Master Plan encompassing Tax Map 15 Parcel 149, Tax Map 24 Parcels 1, 3, 9, 14, 91, 99, 102, 103, 106, 109, 114, 123, 125, 136, 137 and Tax Map 34 Parcels 3 & 149. This amendment is to incorporate the above-mentioned Mitchell property and Beall property into the Villages of Wooded Glen & Piney Reach Master Plan, to assign dwelling units to the various neighborhoods in those Villages, to establish a dwelling unit mix for those neighborhoods, and to provide other updates and revisions to the current Master Plan.

  • 2. · They continue to ignore the numerous warnings from USGS and MGS about water supply...

    I suppose that a house with little or no water is no big deal to them... mad

  • 4. · They are already zoned for housing looks like they want to change it to higher density housing/townhouse/condo/apt? Where the heck are all the kids going to go to school??? Class sizes are already horrible.

    Less trees, less water, more traffic in La Plata and heading up 301, more kids in already over crowded schools. Exactly who is benefiting from this? {sigh}
