Rails to trails project chugs ahead

Charles County has received a $100,000 state grant that will push the Indian Head Rail Trail project into high gear.

The 13-mile nature trail will wind through the Mattawoman Creek watershed from White Plains to Indian Head. The grant funding was obtained from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority through the Southern Maryland Heritage Area Consortium, said Donna Dudley, the county’s chief of tourism.

    Nice, finally a date for completion...though December seems like an odd time to finish it up. I guess it leaves room for the inevitable delays.

    But there was one line here that surprised me...

    The trail will also be connected to the Three Notch Trail in St. Mary’s County, he said.

    In Hughesville!?.. How? When? and did I mention how?!. A whole 'nother trail? or do they think marking the shoulder of Billingsley and Hwy 5 constitutes 'connecting the trails'?

    didnt catch that one caveman- good eyes there.

    I wonder now too. I dont see where our trail even comes close to three notch trail
