  • 1. · Right, Commissioners jumping on the "green" bandwagon. Heh, the very same 5 Buffoons who are doing their best to degrade the Mattawoman. Do ya' think it's because this is an election year? WHOOT!

  • 2. · I could likely help provide several vendors that fit their criteria. My guess is they won't ask me.

  • 3. · You got it seahorse!!

IF they REALLY cared about the environment, they'd scrap the CCC extension and relocate the Indian Head Tech Center.

They would also scrutinize all the "planned" development that's in the hopper and the impact it will have on the water supply.

But I guess that's asking too much from this bunch.... tongue wink

Good guess. How many commissioners showed up when your wind turbine went operational?

Hey, did everyone catch that great LTE in today's Indie by Willian Bartelt about nominating Ken Robinson for the Dem's Central Committee Truman Award?

  • 5. · #3 Cheryl, These 5 Buffoons have an agenda and nothing is going to get in their way. The ONLY way to stop them is to VOTE THEM OUT!

  • 6. · This is the same day as LA Plata Day isnt it? Not good to plan to do it the same day. Just saying.

Every year r at least 15, it had been suggested to do a big event for Earth Day- bringing org's of all kinds together. It always shrugged off as not needed.

I don't know what department is putting it on but it was a surprise to the person who attended all fairs- County events and Organization events to represent the County and talk environment and recycling. Most the time if it had a planned activity for kids it came from the employees own pocket.

Cheney starting putting one on in the past couple years but didnt have great attendance. I haven't heard about whether they will have one yet. But they got their rezoning so probably dont feel they have to court the County and people now- another just saying.

This year is a big anniversary for Earth Day and it was suggested that County residents with permission from the County to use its resources could plan an put on a big environmental fair. It wasnt received well either.

I bet this is about the new storm water management and water issues PR event- adding in vendors (who have to pay to set up- that seems bad for a Govt to do- but again; my opinion).

    Anyhow- I'll be somewhere else.

No surprise here. At least, you have to admit the Commissioners have taken being transparent to heart and are showing their true colors--"environmental green" is definitely NOT on their palette. tongue laugh

  • 8. · #3 The answer is none. There were several prominent people from the state as well as representatives from various environmental organizations.

I am still awaiting an invitation to help with this event.

  • 9. · La Plata Day is looking for more displays to educate and entertain.

There is at least 2 'earth type' going to be there. Why not Ken? That would be a great idea.

You help bring it in to La Plata -free to vendors and such (CC is $150 a table) La Plat promotes it and we get everyone we know to go to La Plata Days- Blow it out of the water!

  • 10. · So, let me see if I got this right...

There is a Charles County Enviro Day...
    nobody show's up...

"Phew!", the commissioners think, "there must not be all that many environmentally focused folk in the county. Nothing to worry about come November..." tongue wink

  • 13. · GREAT- now lets see if we can find more. My husband is doing a small table that was arranged before he retired- and he is still doing it; environmental eduction and getting adults and kids excited is his 'good place".

grin grin grin What would be really cool, if those in charge of La Plata days have enough time, is to get Ken for wind turbines, a solar guy like Larry Jarboe (I think it was Mr Jarboe who sponsored a solar fair over in St Mary's), and then someone who knows geo-thermal. I wish there was more time, because your idea is super, and with free booths, more might be willing to participate.
