With new lines, Md. should have enough power through 2012
Power auction results released Thursday indicate that the installation of planned transmission lines could fend off outages predicted as early as 2011.
PJM Interconnection, the region’s power grid operator, said the recently completed auction, which procures excess electricity needed for utilities from June 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012, produced a larger generation supply than the demand.

- 1 · Get prepared for some land grabs to run these lines.
This recently happened (and I believe is still happening) out in The Plains, Virginia where Dominion Power wants to run huge power lines right through the heart of some of the most beautiful farms in the state.
I expect it will happen here in Southern Maryland soon...
